• profils véhicule du Garage : marque, modèle, année, VIN, surnom et photo, y compris la marque ou le véhicule choisis par l'utilisateur lorsque l'application ne peut pas les déduire seule ;
• données OBD, codes DTC, résultats de scans, valeurs Live et données apprises ;
• séries temporelles OBD synchronisées pendant un trajet, utilisées localement pour les graphiques et comparaisons de rapports ;
• traces de trajets, coordonnées GPS, altitude, distance, vitesse et événements de session ;
• rapports PDF et fichiers CSV créés par l'utilisateur ;
• données atelier saisies par l'utilisateur ;
• informations techniques de reconnexion à l'adaptateur : nom, type de transport, adresse Bluetooth ou point de terminaison Wi‑Fi IP/port ;

2. PURPOSE OF THE APPLICATION

SWISSDIAG PRO is an automotive diagnostic application. It communicates with compatible OBD/VCI interfaces, displays technical data, reads fault codes, optionally records GPS trips, creates PDF reports and can store vehicle profiles and workshop records.

3. LOCAL PROCESSING BY DEFAULT

Most data is processed and stored only on the user's device. SWISSDIAG PRO includes no advertising SDK and no analytics SDK and does not require a SWISSDIAG account for local functions.

Locally stored data may include:
• Garage vehicle profiles: make, model, year, VIN, nickname and photo, including the make or vehicle chosen by the user when the application cannot infer them by itself;
• OBD data, DTCs, scan results, live values and learned data;
• synchronized OBD time series recorded during a trip and used locally for report graphs and same-instant comparisons;
• trip traces, GPS coordinates, altitude, distance, speed and session events;
• PDF reports and CSV files created by the user;
• workshop data entered by the user;
• adapter reconnection details: name, transport type, Bluetooth address or Wi-Fi IP/port endpoint;
• selected application language: automatic, French, German or English.

To recognise the vehicle, the application reads the VIN through the standard OBD request (service 09) and, if that request returns none, a second time from the engine control unit, read-only (UDS read 22 F1 90 or KWP 1A 90). The make and, where the VIN allows it, the model and model year are derived from it on the device; a missing model or year is asked of the user. The application never transmits the VIN to a server.

The SWISSDIAG controller does not remotely access this local data; it receives only what the application itself sends. In this version, the SWISSDIAG server receives the data required for purchase verification described in section 8 and, if the user accepts it, the anonymous discovery report described in section 9.

4. LOCATION

Location permission is requested only when a feature needing it is triggered, such as GPS trip recording. While a trip recording is in progress, location updates resume when the application returns to the foreground. SWISSDIAG PRO does not request Android background-location permission. When the application leaves the foreground, location updates are stopped by this version.

No remote map provider is configured in this version: location coordinates do not leave the device for mapping purposes.

5. OPTIONAL ONLINE DTC LOOKUP

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) labels and descriptions shown come from data held on the device: the application does not look them up online. Under a standard OBD code shown and, with PRO, under a code of another control unit shown in SAE notation, the "Google ↗" button opens a Google search in the browser only when the user taps it. This search contains the code, the vehicle's make, model and year as known to the application (Garage profile, or values derived from the VIN on the device), and the words "diagnostic DTC"; it never contains the VIN. SWISSDIAG itself sends nothing on that occasion: the browser transmits the search to Google, with the information it usually transmits (in particular the IP address and, depending on its settings, cookies or the Google account). Google's terms of service and privacy policy apply to that search. Without that tap, no search is sent to Google.

6. ONLINE MAPPING

This version includes no online mapping: it does not embed a remote tile provider and does not allow any online map layer to be enabled. The trip map is drawn locally on the device and shows the trace without a background layer; no location coordinate is sent to a mapping provider.

7. OBD INTERFACES AND TRANSPORTS

Bluetooth Classic/LE: Bluetooth permissions are used to discover, pair and communicate with the OBD interface selected by the user. Any PIN is entered and retained by Android; SWISSDIAG neither reads nor stores that PIN. The application stores the adapter name, address and transport type locally to support reconnection. BLUETOOTH_SCAN is declared with Android's neverForLocation flag; SWISSDIAG does not use Bluetooth scanning to infer location.

Experimental ELM/STN Wi-Fi TCP: the user enters the adapter's IP address/host name and port. SWISSDIAG then opens a direct TCP connection to that endpoint. The endpoint may be stored locally for reconnection. This function does not use a SWISSDIAG cloud relay.

The serial TCP protocol used by some Wi-Fi adapters is not encrypted. OBD commands and responses may therefore travel in clear text on the local network between the phone and adapter. A trusted local network and the adapter manufacturer's instructions should be used.

Direct Android USB serial, direct DoIP/Ethernet and CAN FD are not supported in this version: no data travels over these paths.

8. GOOGLE PLAY BILLING AND PURCHASE ENTITLEMENTS

Google Play processes transactions, payment methods and account information under its own rules and policies. The application receives from Google Play the information needed to determine purchase or subscription state. When a PRO purchase is detected, the application sends the SWISSDIAG server, hosted in Switzerland, only the information needed to validate the licence: the purchase token issued by Google Play, the purchased product identifier, the application package name, and an installation identifier generated at random on the device. The server queries the Google Play Developer API to confirm that the purchase exists, is paid for and has not been cancelled, then issues a signed licence valid for thirty days. It also confirms the purchase with Google Play (acknowledgement), so that Google Play does not cancel it automatically: on receipt of Google Play's purchase notification, after a verification requested by the application and during a daily check of recent purchases; this confirmation gives Google Play only the application package name, the product identifier and the purchase token. It retains that information, the order identifier supplied by Google, the purchase state and timestamps.

Licence verification: the licence is verified again with the SWISSDIAG server when the application is used with an Internet connection (when it starts, then about once a day while it is in use); each successful verification issues a new thirty-day licence and transmits only the information listed above. Without a new successful verification, the licence remains usable for thirty days, then for a further fourteen-day grace period; after that, PRO is suspended until the next verification. When Google Play confirms the purchase but the SWISSDIAG server cannot verify it (for example server unreachable or down), PRO is granted provisionally on the device, for fourteen days at most. Subject to these verifications, the PRO licence remains usable as long as the purchase remains valid with Google Play, that is neither refunded nor cancelled.

None of this data identifies the user directly: the installation identifier is random, specific to the installation, and tied to no account. Until a purchase is made, the application sends none of this purchase information to the server. The discovery report of section 9 is independent of any purchase and contains none of this information.

Purposes: operating the purchased licence and preventing fraud. Legal basis: performance of the contract.

Retention: purchase-related information is kept as long as the purchase remains valid with Google Play (neither refunded nor cancelled): without it a legitimate purchase could no longer be recognised. After a refund or cancellation, it is kept for three years as evidence and to prevent fraud, like the records of notifications sent by Google Play, including cancellations and refunds. Anyone may request deletion of their data at contact@swissdiagpro.ch; deletion results in the loss of access to paid features, since the purchase can no longer be recognised.

9. ANONYMOUS DISCOVERY REPORT

What is sent. After a completed diagnostic scan, the application may create an anonymous technical report; it sends it to the SWISSDIAG server, hosted in Switzerland, only if the user has accepted (see "User's choice" below). A report is created only if the vehicle is confirmed (VIN read during the current connection, or vehicle chosen by the user) and its make is recognised in the closed list; otherwise no report is created and the application says so after the scan. The report contains: vehicle make, model and model year (only values from a closed list, never the text typed; a model outside the list is sent empty), OBD protocol, scan profile, addresses of the control units queried with a generic name (engine, brakes, airbag…) and their reply (positive reply, refusal, no reply), present and supported fault codes with their status byte, application version (recorded as empty if it is not a version published by SWISSDIAG), and a random number drawn for each report, used only to avoid duplicates if a transmission is repeated. The report is independent of any purchase and contains no purchase information.

What is never sent: the VIN, in full or in part, or a hash of the VIN; the registration plate; the location; any identifier of the device, of the installation or of an account; the adapter address; the date and time of the scan; the country or language; workshop or customer data; any text typed by the user; measurement series and trips. The report contains no command: it is built only from what the vehicle answered.

Purposes: learning, model by model, which control units answer and which fault codes exist, in order to improve vehicle support and scan profiles and to target data requests to manufacturers.

User's choice. Nothing is sent without an explicit choice by the user. In Switzerland, at the first launch of the version that introduces the report, after acceptance of the terms of use, an information screen describes it and offers, with equal prominence, DECLINE or ACCEPT AND CONTINUE; nothing is sent before that answer, and only ACCEPT AND CONTINUE allows sending. Outside Switzerland, or when the country cannot be determined, the report is sent only with the user's prior consent: the question is asked once, after the first completed scan, and nothing is sent without the answer SEND. The country is derived from the country of the Google Play account, otherwise from that of the SIM card, without any location access; it stays on the device and is never sent; in case of doubt, prior consent applies. In all cases, sending can be turned off or on again at any time in Settings › Privacy & data › Discovery report; turning it off applies to future transmissions and deletes the reports pending on the device. Declining removes no diagnostic function: scans stay the same. Basis: in Switzerland, information and the right to decline (article 45c of the Telecommunications Act); elsewhere, prior consent.

Scans. The application never starts a scan by itself: each scan, read-only, is started by the user, whether the report is accepted or not. A scan sends no clearing, coding or setting command.

Exploration. On an 11-bit CAN vehicle whose platform is unknown to the application, a scan of the control units may end, once per vehicle (a second time only if the first exploration could not be completed) and then on the user's request, with a read-only exploration of diagnostic addresses 0x700 to 0x7FF: a single fault-code read request per address during discovery, then, for the control units that answered only, a read of the present codes and of the inventory of supported codes; speed checked before and during, stop if the vehicle moves; no write command. It changes nothing in the vehicle. Explorations already carried out are remembered on the device by means of a local vehicle fingerprint that is never transmitted.

Recipient: the SWISSDIAG server in Switzerland. No other.

IP address: it is used in memory, for at most 65 minutes, only to limit the number of requests; it is never recorded, neither in the database nor in the server logs.

Retention: the server does not record the time of receipt of a report, only the week. Reports are kept for 24 months, then deleted. The duplicate-check number is kept separately, never with the report, and deleted 35 days after the end of the week in which it was received, that is no later than 43 days after receipt; it is not included in any backup. Daily backups of the server database are deleted no later than 16 days after they are made; a deletion therefore takes effect in them no later than 16 days afterwards. They contain neither the reports of the current week nor the duplicate-check numbers.

On the device: a report that could not be sent, for example for lack of network, waits in the application's private storage (at most 20 reports and 14 days). The application may then retry the transmission later, including in the background when the network is available again, by means of the Android job scheduler; this retry takes place only if sending is still accepted, which is checked again before each transmission, and it is cancelled as soon as sending is turned off or declined; the scheduled job carries no data. The report is deleted after sending. The application keeps neither a copy of the reports sent nor a history of their numbers. What remains on the device, and never leaves it: the user's choice and the day it was made, counters (reports sent, pending, rejected, dropped, too large), the day of the first and of the last transmission, the outcome of the last transmission attempt (sent, no connection, server unavailable, rejected, collection suspended) and its day, the reason of the last completed scan without a report (for example vehicle not confirmed or make not recognised) and its day, the number of consecutive transmission failures and, until the next day, a fingerprint of the reports sent that same day, so that the same report is not sent twice. This information is used only to display the report status in the application.

Suspension: SWISSDIAG may close the collection at any time from the server, without a new version; the application then deletes the pending reports and sends no more. To protect the server, the number of reports accepted is limited per hour and per week, and collection pauses by itself if the database reaches its set maximum size. During such a pause nothing is recorded: reports stay pending on the device and are sent later, within the limits stated above (20 reports, 14 days at most).

Publication: only as aggregates (for example "N reports observed for this model"), above a minimum threshold of reports and weeks, never report by report.

Reports are handled with the precautions due to personal data: access restricted to the controller, no attempt to link a report to a person, no sharing.

Rights: as the report carries no identifier, a specific report cannot be found. On request to contact@swissdiagpro.ch stating the make, model and model year, SWISSDIAG deletes all reports of that make that carry that model or no model, and that model year or none, including those of other users; if no model year is given, all years are deleted. The make and model are read the way the application reads them, for example "VW Golf GTI" for Volkswagen Golf GTI.

10. NOTIFICATIONS, REPORTS, EXPORTS AND SHARING

Notifications in this version are generated locally to indicate that a requested report is ready, that a critical anomaly was observed during a recorded trip, that a Google Play update is available or that installed Enhanced content has changed. Each category can be disabled. Depending on Android settings, a notification title or content may appear on the lock screen. These notifications do not send OBD, DTC, GPS or customer data to a SWISSDIAG service. Weekly summaries and automatic background trip start are not enabled in this version.

PDF reports and trip files are created on the device in locations chosen by the user. When the user taps Open or Share, Android may pass the file to a third-party application selected by the user. That transfer is initiated by the user and is then also subject to the recipient application's privacy policy.

The "Support" entry (Settings › Help & about) opens, in the device's browser, the support page of the swissdiagpro.ch website in the application language. The application sends no data on that occasion; use of the website is governed by the website's own notices.

11. RETENTION AND DELETION

Local data is retained until deleted by the user, by uninstalling the application or by clearing application data. Reports saved in a chosen folder or Downloads may remain after application data is cleared and must then be deleted from the file manager or relevant app section.

The application allows the local DTC-learning database and internal state to be reset. Vehicle profiles and reports can be managed separately.

12. COMMUNICATION SECURITY

Clear-text Web/HTTP traffic is disabled by Android configuration for application Web services; configured Internet services must use HTTPS. This does not turn local diagnostic links into HTTPS: Bluetooth and serial TCP transport to a Wi-Fi adapter use local-link mechanisms and may not provide application-layer encryption. The Wi-Fi transport should be used only on a trusted local network. No security method can guarantee zero risk.

13. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

Optional Internet services may operate from countries different from the user's country; the countries and recipients actually used are listed below.

Countries and recipients actually used: the SWISSDIAG server, hosted in Switzerland, receives the data required for licence validation. Exchanges relating to the purchase itself — payment, account and refund — are handled by Google Play under Google's policies, and Google may process them outside Switzerland. The same SWISSDIAG server in Switzerland receives the anonymous discovery report of section 9. No other SWISSDIAG recipient is involved in this version; it includes no third-party analytics service and no remote crash reporting. No mapping provider is involved in this version (section 6). A search opened with the "Google ↗" button (section 5) is transmitted to Google by the device's browser, at the user's request; Google may process it outside Switzerland under its own rules.

14. DATA SUBJECT RIGHTS

Depending on applicable law, a person may have rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction or objection. For data stored exclusively on the device, the user directly controls local viewing/deletion tools. For requests relating to processing under the publisher's responsibility: contact@swissdiagpro.ch.

In Switzerland, data subjects may also seek information from the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC). Where the GDPR applies, data subjects may exercise the rights provided by that regulation and complain to the competent supervisory authority.

15. CHILDREN

SWISSDIAG PRO is an automotive diagnostic tool intended for drivers, vehicle owners and automotive professionals. It is not designed as a service for children.

16. CHANGES

This policy must be updated when functions, providers, data categories or processing purposes change. The date/version at the top identifies the applicable version.

• Fahrzeugprofile der Garage: Marke, Modell, Baujahr, VIN, Bezeichnung und Foto, einschliesslich der vom Benutzer gewählten Marke oder des gewählten Fahrzeugs, wenn die Anwendung sie nicht selbst ableiten kann;
• OBD-Daten, DTCs, Scanergebnisse, Live-Werte und gelernte Daten;
• während einer Fahrt aufgezeichnete synchronisierte OBD-Zeitreihen, die lokal für Berichtsgrafiken und Vergleiche zum selben Zeitpunkt verwendet werden;
• Fahrtspuren, GPS-Koordinaten, Höhe, Distanz, Geschwindigkeit und Sitzungsereignisse;
• vom Benutzer erstellte PDF-Berichte und CSV-Dateien;
• vom Benutzer eingegebene Werkstattdaten;
• technische Daten zur erneuten Verbindung mit dem Adapter: Name, Transportart, Bluetooth-Adresse oder Wi-Fi-IP-/Port-Endpunkt;

9. ANONYME ENTDECKUNGSMELDUNG

Was gesendet wird.
